headlight problem
 

Driver side head light stays up about 2" can`t get it stay flush.What did I do wrong?

Tell us what you did that might have caused the problem and maybe somebody can come up with an answer.

do you need to loosen the 3 allen head bolts on the triangular bracket and line things up? my car had a consistantly droopy lid and that's all it took.

Just putting things back together.thought I might have installed it wrong. How goes it Phil? I was in hope of driving over that way this week-end ,but can`t get away.I`ll try loosening those 3 allen bolts. Thanks

You can get some alignment from loosening the three allen heads that hold the inner light door pivot. If it is up evenly all the way across, loosen the allen bolts holding the motor itself, push the light door flush, then retighten. Very minor changes in motor location effect door travel distance a lot. There is also a "stop" screw at the top of the headlight bucket. I've never changed it, but I think it is for "open", not "closed."

Barry - it sounds like you need to remove the nut holding the drive lever piece onto the motor shaft, pull it off and let the headlight go into proper position, then put it back on the motor. I don't know what the correct name is for this part, but if it's not on the shaft to match up with the relays then things will be way off. 2" sounds too much to adjust out with the door pivot brackets.

Barry I believe that Guy is right you will need to take off the little nut that hold the arm in place. and adjust it's position on the stud that comes out from the head light motor. Should work! Had a similar problem a while back.

Thanks guys I`ll try it next weekend.Spent this one fixing the leaking fuel pump,(replaced the o-rings)and some wires in the dash.Plus I washed and waxed it just so I could drive down to Micky D`S ,kind of a car show every Friday night.(+ free dinner)
