How Wayne and PP made my Christmas brighter

Every year I get something from my wife that blows (I pray she doesn't read this) and I have to pretend that it is neat. This year she actually took the initiative, went into my stuff, figured out what kind of car I have (75 2L) contacted Wayne and said "my husband loves this car, what should I get him?"

Wayne recommended, and she bought, the new Guide to Owning and Restoring 914, 914-6 (coincidentally co-written by Wayne????). It ended up being a great Christmas. The book kept me busy all morning. Not to rekindle that old "Thanks Pelican Parts" string ... but.... Thanks Pelican Parts.

I put an end to that problem with my beloved spouse and 4 grown sons by preparing a "Dad's Wish List" way in advance. I give them make, model, size, color, locations, websites, price, and amounts in clear, plain English. I also tell them that, "I'm too #$%& old (40+) for Christmas/birthday surprises/disappointments, so purchasing ANY of these items will make ME one happy camper."

Want proof? For Christmas I got my (requested) Phillips/Magnavox DVD/CD home theater player and my (requested) Panasonic AM/FM/CD player for my lovely 914. And a totally-floored-my-ass surprise; an UN-requested, beautiful, replacement Lazy Boy recliner.

Believe me, they got the message; it works.

Rouser, why not just buy yourself those things and not buy anyone anything else? Save ya time and effort.

Come on, G; it HAS to look like they thought it all up by themselves.

Besides, I luck out and get Wish Lists from everybody else, which makes MY Christmas shopping a WHOLE lot easier!

350+ days till Christmas!

Amen Rouser! How else do you think of gifts like nail and hair appointments? You need lists! Forget thoughtfulness and creativity. I got myself rollbar padding for sweetest day. I am not sure what she got???
