914 Easy question-

Can you guys tell me whether early/Late engine lid rain trays are interchangable?
If so Anyone got one they dont need?
I have a 70' and noticed a late style tray on Ebay for $20-, can I use it?

Wash state

P.S. Forgot to mention I have dual 36's on this thing with v-stacks/normal size air filters....is this why theres no rain tray?..do the air filters hit the tray?

I believe that they are interchangeable, though not identical through the years.

It is possible that the filters will hit the tray. The tray drops down something like 6" from the engine lid when it is mounted.

I run Dual 45 Dellorto carbs on tall manifolds and they clear mine with no problem. I have the later style tray also.

Scott, is Ol' Yeller running with the stroker now?

skline 11-06-2003 05:44 AM

Not quite yet Sean. It's about ready to go but I have not had the time to put it in yet. I want to clean everything up in the engine bay and have it nice and clean. I may also have some of the other parts powder coated like the front exhaust tubes for the heater and the engine bar.

sean_V8_914 11-06-2003 06:45 AM

nice, are you doing the parts in back? once powder coated, it will be easy to clean

Just the heater connector tubes that go from the exchanger to the body and the engine mount bar. I am also picking up stainless steel nuts and bolts for the muffler. I need a few more things and then I will be ready to install it. Probably another week.
