drove my 914 to work for the first time

today.... wow... what a blast...except that I woke up late and had to deal with rush-hour traffic. slow going most of the way.

a lot of fun and a lot of looks.

I picked it up from the shop last night. boy, what a noticeable difference when it's properly timed. it drove much smoother.

I was also having a problem shifting into 4th/5th gears.. he told me it was (ok i forget 'exactly' what he called told me) a pinch bolt loose where the linkage meets the tranny... I have absolutely zero problems shifting now. that's a real confidence booster when driving - knowing I can hit any gear when I need t.

I had so much fun last night that I was going to call in sick this morning and play with the 914. But the (P.C. term) 'domestic help' was coming in and i didn't want to be around for that. soooo... I may just have to take 1/2 day off to play, instead.

now.. if I could just paint the dang thing..

Rob,

Conrats man!

I remember that feeling . . . he says as he watches it vanish in the distance!

Now I just have to get back to that.

Enjoy!

Hey Jason,

When you get it back can I go for a ride?

Guy,

You got me thinking about one of your paint jobs. Maybe we can talk about it again.

I drove mine to the office today too. Ever try to talk on a cell phone in a 914. You have to pull over and turn the engine off.

I'm getting the car back tomorrow.... it was a longer process than I anticipated (don't ask about the money). I guess it is running -sweeeet- now.

Mark: HA!! Good one re: the cellphone. Was the top on? Aboslutely on the ride!

Guy: Thanks man, send the link to my email address. I'm all fired up now. Going to start some sanding this weekend, hopefully get a German car back in your garage before too long.

Its the right side wheelhouse. The battery tray mounts to it. Mine has a hole in it.
