swapping Weber venturies

First off, thanks for the helpful responces to my previous posts.

A question: a feature in last month's HVWs referred to putting 40mm venturies in Weber 44 IDAs. Does this mean you can swap different sized venturies in and out of Weber IDAs?

My street 1.8ltr came with 44 IDAs- way too big, in fact I smell gas in the oil (but I think that's mostly due to another problem). Anyway, before I go hunting for some Weber 40s, I'd like to know if I can just swap out the venturies in my current set-up.

The venturi's can be swapped out easily. You have to pull the top off, then loosen the pinch screw and they should pull up. If the venturis are chenged then that affects all the other items such as air tubes, jetting, etc. I think the best is to use the 40's as the 44's are way too big unless this is a full out race motor. Good luck.
