Piston Deck Height

I'm rebuilding my engine with Euro pistons & cylinders. Can I have my deck height less than 0.04 in. curently without a gasket I measure mine at 0.02 in?

Are you using base shims? The best way is to do a mock build up and use clay to mesure the valve to piston clearence. The more the better, can't thin of a min off the top of my head, but it will increase with max rpm. Ask a builder like Fats or stephans hi-po what they use. Maybe the Tom Wilson book has the min clearence? I'll look at it later for you.

This is the mockup reading without a base shim or sealent on the case using a feeler. I also measured the valve clearance as you suggested and have over a 1/8 in clearance at the valves.
