Heater lever positions?
Even I know that it 's wishful thinking to get heat out of a 914, what is the preferred position of the dashboard and console levers to get max heat to the floor. The Owner's Manual is not the clearest...especially the bottom dash lever.
Thanks, Mike

For heat to the footwell, the bottom (usually red, unless it's been replaced) dashboard lever should be all the way to the left. The upper levers control fresh air only. The console lever should be pulled all the way up and back to fully open the flappers and to additionally turn on the heater booster fan, if you have one that works. I personally favor the dashboard lever to the extreme right, where it directs the warm air onto the windshield and defogs it. The booster fan is either a psychological heating devise or a joke, depending on how you look at things. Keeping engine RPMs in the cruising range is way more effective for heating than that fractional HP fan at the other end of, what, 35 feet of convoluted hoses and pipes? Ed |
