Master cylinder check

At a time trial this past weekend in San Diego, one of the fastest 914s on the west coast nearly ran over a corner worker when the brakes failed completely at the end of a long straightaway! Inspection revealed that the line from the master cylinder had ruptured and blown all the brake fluid out! Quick thinking and fast manuvering by the driver (who is a Daytona veteran) prevented disaster. When was that last time you looked under that cover plate? Or is the cover plate still there?
