Just went on the PCA Pozo (California, San Luis Obispo) drive, I was in my friends 9146gt replica. For about $20.000 ('73 914 w/M471 package, fiberglass, 3.2L Carrera, 17x7.5front & 17x9rear), we cought the front runners, in the process had front row seats to a red boxster spinning out and finally the GT3 let us pass. Now driver skill has to be taken into consideration, as well as the sanity of driving aggresively on public roads. We sang " We are the champions" all the way to the pozo saloon. Although it wasn't a race, being in a '70's era car on public road with at least 75 other thoroughbreds from Stuttgart, Le Mans was the only thing that could come to mind.
In my opinon, for $20k, you can't make or buy a better car, period. |
Bought the car last May for 3K. Have just over 10K invested total so far. Figure I'll have about 17 or 18K when complete if things go well. This project has been a whole lot of fun. Money well spent!!

Too much, the frustration level is high, my patience is low and time is at a premium.............
Did I mention the new Mach is really nice............. |
I am honestly not really sure, and don't really care.
When the bin where I keep my receipts fills up, then I'll start to worry. :) |
Well, I'm definitely way over $10k, but I have owned the car
for nearly 20 years. I do love the car, but I think the license plate I used to have kind of sums up the expenses...... :) --- bill http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1076809673.jpg |
I have spent a bundle.
The worst part about it, I've spent at least $5k in the past couple of years & it still need work. hmmm......the pursuit of perfection If I were to do it all over, I'd spend a little more the first time & do it right!! |
I have a really bad habit of viewing the Pelican website & browsing thru every category and buying something.
I should be on their preferred customer list by now.....(discount anyone...) |
