Baja III - March 6th, 2004

OK! We are doing this.

Let's meet in San Diego early, probably near I-5 & I-8

Drive over to Lyons Valley Road and run it.

Drive to Tecate and cross over into Mexico. Take Highway 2 to Mexicali and have lunch. Those who want to keep it to one day can cross the boarder to Calexico & back over to I-8.

The rest of us head down south to San Felipe for the night and nightlife (about 120 miles south of Mexicali).

Sunday, head back to the Good Ole USA.

Alternatively, we head back west and spend the night in Rosarito.

James

Kevin's engine is on the way. It will be like driving a neutered car going from my 2.0 beast to his 1.7. It would be miraculous to get my 3.1 done and in by then. I don't think that beta testing in Mexico would be a good idea, but I am smart not wise.

I'm a tenative in. Gwen's dad is back in the hospital so I can't commit to anything unfortunately.

On the upside - we're moving this weekend.

red-beard 02-09-2004 07:18 PM

You are moving on Valentine's Day???

mikester 02-09-2004 08:41 PM

Yeah, I got my wife a house for valentines day.

skline 02-09-2004 09:44 PM

Count me in also. I am not sure if I am driving the 914 or not yet. Worse case, I take the BMW down and take it through the twisties. It would still be fun. Either way, I am in.

Hmmmmm - Dark Dave is REALLY beginning to lose it. Hanging out on the dark side or lives to close to SF.

Dave needs to get his car running and run a BAJA to understand - but then..........,

red-beard 02-14-2004 09:57 AM

It's time to get ORGANIZED!!!

I investigated San Felipe a little closer. It is NOT the place to stay.

I NEED A HEAD COUNT! How many are coming and how many are staying overnight ?

OK, so we have 2 choices now. Either head down to Ensenada on Highway 3 from Tecate, go to Rosarito Via 2 and TJ orrrrrrrrr, hang out in Downtown San Diego.

If we go down to Ensenada, we can hit the Vineyards on Highway 3 on the way down.

Rosarito would be easy.

Either way we can do the old Highway 1 on the way back.

So, what's it gonna be?

sean_V8_914 02-14-2004 02:20 PM

the reverse route of the last trip. I know Sue will want to go to San Felipe

mike95125 02-14-2004 04:04 PM

San felipe!? Many hours across a desalate desert in Mexico in a 30yr old air cooled engined car that I personally maintain....I think I may pass on that one.

cluck, cluck, cluck

Scrappy 02-16-2004 12:23 PM

I guess "His Royal Hairlessness" has evolved to a feathered foul that keeps it's head down, pecks at the ground and won't cross the road for fear of getting run over a yellow rusty 914.http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/fart.gif<p>And BTW, where's Kevin? We've allowed 944s before.
