Question about Rear Reflector
I was just wondering:
With the many rear reflectors I've seen for sale, are these reflectores lighted or just a reflector? (personally, I think lighted may be a little too much) Has anyone installed a "manual" trunk release vs. electric. I would prefer a simple cable system like the one up front but it would need to be neat & tidy. Any thoughts would be great.........................Vern |
Here is a pic of a rear reflector made specifically for the 914, not one of those 911 parts cut down. I presently have it on eBay.

The reflectors are not lighted. Most are 911 reflectors that are cut to size to fit the panel on the 914. There were some made specifically for the 914, but they have been NLA for a while.
The trunk release is the trick there. There are solenoid kits, pull-cable kits, some people cut a hole in the reflector for the stock pushbutton, and a few don't bother with the latch at all. Unless you go with the third option, it's not a bad idea to fake up an "emergency release" just in case your primary mechanism fails. It's not much fun trying to get into the trunk if you can't activate the latch.... --DD |
Some folks drill a small hole in the center of the reflector. Then a small screwdriver is used to unlatch the trunk.

You could drill a hole in the reflector and use the stock lock. Steve
