Carbs wiring and fuel pump
Well I am going to take the plunge and switch the 914 over to carbs. I was just curious what wiring changes I would have to make for the distributor, coil, etc. What kind of fuel pump do I need to switch to?
Thanks for the info! ~Eric

This has been a topic of conversation as of late. There are several ways of wiring in a fuel pump, but one. NEVER wire in the pump from the coil.

I used the wiring from the stock fuel pump located under the engine sheet metal on the right. Your '75 might not have the same wires. Don't use a cheap fuel pump and don't use on that makes a lot of noise in a street car. A Holley is nice from what I hear. I partially blame a Facet for a massive engine failure I suffered last year due to starvation.
The dis and coil should reamain the same. At least mine did. I would reccommend Weber 44's with the stock venturi for all around performance, but 40's will do nicely. I opened my 40 venturis out to 37mm. I think the 44's come with 36 stock. And buy a carb kit from someone that gives you linkage, fiters and all the goodies. It's a much better buy than buying separates. The stock throttle cable will work fine. |
