Active disabling for 914 w/ MSD
 

I know someone wrote what the part is earlier in the year, but what is the part that you can get from MSD to install so your car can not be started and you can claim you have an active disabling alarm system...or whatever it is...i can't think right now, sorry!

As with any car, just run a line from the points wire to a switch to ground. If the ignition never sees the points open, no spark will be generated. I believe this is also shown in the MSD manual. (I believe there is a tech note on this on the Pelican pages).

Without the MSD you can just run a wire from the tach to a switch to ground. This is the same as connecting directly to the points. This *might* also work with the MSD installed with the 8910 tach adapter, but I am not certain.

I'd recommend either an e-mail or phone call to MSD since their units operate at a much higher voltage and frequencies than a stock system, the ground type of kill could cause a failure of the unit. I did the same as Pete, except it was a wire right off of the negative terminal on the coil. A little tiny black switch is hard to spot amongst that black vinyl interior.

Personally I'm leary about messing with an ignition interupt. IMHO a stater interupt is a safer way to go. i.e. the starter not working as you pull in front of traffic isn't as dangerous as accidently killing the ignition because you bump into a switch or a butt-splice connector goes bad. Just a thought.

You could install one of the "kill switches" that are used on the race cars and then take the "key" with you and then there is no power anywhere on the car! Good luck.
