914 consistenly starting every-other-time

A few weeks ago my car wouldn't turn over when I tried to leave school. So I push start it and it fires right up and I drive home. I get home and turn the car off, then...I try to restart it and it doesn't turn over. So, I thought it might be my alternator or connection on my battery. The next morning before I went to school I turn it over and it starts right up....I drive to the gas station and turn it off...then it wont start again.....this goes on for a few days of starting every other time. I read the tech article on '914 starting problems' and it says to check the ground strap on the tranny. I check the ground strap and clean it well and the car started right up and I thought I fixed the problem because it worked for the next 3 days as it started every time. But, a few days ago it began to do the same thing of starting/not starting. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this...possibly my starter? I dont think its my alternator and my battery is fairly new. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Try 'ignition switch'.

Do you suggest I replace my ignition switch? I checked the pelican parts catalog and I couldn't see a part by that name? Do they still make and sell these?

Yes, they do.

Next time it fails, try tapping on the starter. Sometimes they stick. If that doesn't work, try pushing the car backwards a foot or two while in gear. That can sometimes move things to a fresh position where they work.

There are quite a few other checks in the article, go through them when you get a chance.
