Porsche Crest Howdy - n00b here

Hello -

I picked up a 74 1.8 a few months ago and I'm just starting to look around and get an idea of what I want to do.

I'd like to do the following in the next year, not necessarily in this order:

suspension
brakes
interior
engine swap
paint/body work
wheels/tires

Basically I want to turn the car into a fun weekend/track car. I do need powah - I'm looking into jdm engines (possibly STi? who knows....)

Any good faqs I should check out?

Thanks, hope to be on here a bunch.

Well, if you want to get started right away on the motor dept, find MikeZ on the board here and take a look at my old engine which is for sale. If you know how to set timing and adjust carbs better than I , you could have a screamer.

In addition, read the 914 tech articles here on this site. The suspension and brakes are covered very well; all you need to know. There are a few good websites on painting. Someone else might have a link or two, otherwise do a Google.

Interior is something you can take some time and do a lot yourself. Look around using the search function here and read up.

Tires and wheels, same thing. For the track, you will want to squeeze some 205/50/15s in the wheel wells. You may have to roll a fender lip or two.

Welcome to the board and good luck, have fun with your project.

Thanks! Looks like I need to do a bunch of research (ie read the archives!).
