Securing emblems to rear engine lid

Gents:
I'm looking for a good way to secure my cool "new" gold Porsche letters I got on eBay a while back to my rear engine lid.
There were black rubber almost faucet washer looking things holding the old ones on, but they're not working too well on my new ones, since the posts on the new ones seem a little thicker.
I just got back from the hardware store at lunch to try and find something that would fit the bill, but no luck. Anyone got any ideas? What do you guys have on your 914s?
