Flares
I've been looking into some different flare options for my '73 but haven't come across anybody using 911 flares. Has anybody tried this? Is it even an option? It seems like they could be welded on, but I don't know how it would look.

Not sure if you have seen my do-it-yourself flare album:

Hi 914helo,
The video is not available yet...a month or two I expect. Zach has returned from his vacation so we will be shooting the intro and editting etc. I'll put you on my list to notify if you email me: ghiafab@msn.com Hi Steve, That is pretty wild looking. The flare is blending into the body nicely. Did you have to modify it to fit that well? John www.ghiaspecialties.com

Steve - are you going to save the rear glass piece? I can put mine back on, then the targa top fits and the car looks "stock". You will be surprised at how much noise comes from the intake if you drive with the hood off.
It's kind cool to tune the carb from the drivers seat at a light. |

I know of at least three cars that have 911 SC rear flares installed. I don't think the fronts work, but the rears do. They must, of course, be welded on and some smoothing and filling done afterwards, but the result is pretty sweet IMHO.
Rats. Gwen Golub had pics up online somewhere of "G-Teener", her red 914-6 conversion with the SC flares, but I can't find them now... --DD

Here's mine: Gary's 914 at Aircooled Racing. She's still in the shop, but we're getting close...

That thing looks like it weighs twice as much as a stock teener. I know it probably doesn't.

Ride height looks backwards, like it is going up hill. . . could be the uneven ground?
How does the top work? Does it balloon at speed? |
