oil pump removal / inspect

i have my engine out of the 914 right now, and want to pull and inspect the oil pump do to a tad bit low pressure. It has been suggested to loosen the case half bolts to make the pump pull out easy. My question is, won't the case leak oil at the halves later if I loosen the bolts for pump removal. I always believed that the case when loosened will leak, even if torqued back tight unless new sealant is applied to the case halves. Since i am not pulling apart the case, I don't think I will be able to clean and reseal the halves.

anyone have experience with this?

Has anyone loosened the case halves to pull the pump, and then not have leaks later (or had leaks start) without re-appliing sealant?

thanks dave
