96mm High compression p/cs??

Doods N Doodettes
I was wondering if there was a kit available that raised the compression (ie domed pistons) without doing any headwork.
96mm, for a 2.0. Just trying diiferent ideas, is all. Paying the machinist is a bit scary for this one, so if there's an option, then woohoo, if not, then boohoo, it'll be a while before I'm done.
Cheers, and 'Happy Monday"

I'd like to know too. I want to add some 96mm KB pistons to my 2.0 and get a little higher c/r without having to machine the heads.

If you look at the combustion chamber, it is small in area with a lot of flat area for "squish." To use any kind of full dome would require more machining that you would like. The flycut is inexpensive. So, flat top pistons are the best moneywise.

Alfred, you can get enough compression w/o machining. Take out the head gasket when you install the KB's and adjust your piston to head clearance, also known as "deck height" and "squish" to .045. I think on the chart that gives you about 8.5:1.

Or you can go to 10:1 with flycuts and join me over on the bench with the broken motors.

Thanks Zeke. I'm interested in about 8 or 8.2:1 c/r. I figure the motor should make about 100hp with the 96mm pistons and a stock cam. Should be "peppy".

Only custom pistons are domed... I can design a set but you won't like the price..

as for joining someone on the bench with a broken engine because of 10:1- Its ALL in the combo.

You guys are funny, I'll hafta save my money. Hey, I made a rhyme!
OK jake, I gotcha - I'll never know if I don't ask...... HOW MUCH? I can't afford it whatever it is, but you know, "knowledge is power".
I suppose I'll check around locally to get a decent price, and try to find a knowledgeable shop to do it. Should I wait to get the P/Cs before getting it done, or will a competent shop know how to do this without them? Much as I'd like to hang with y'all, I think I'll take an early pass on the "Broken Bench Club" HA ;)
Bye
Jeff
