Power windows
I checked around with a few companies and no one seems to make an electric power windows kit to fit the 914. Has anybody seen one with power windows? Might be kind of cool. I'm also very lazy and am tired of leaning over and rolling the other window down. Thanks

I've seen one or two, but I'm not a fan of stuff that adds weight to the car for "convenience features". I like the fact that the 914 has roll-up windows, and that they're nice and lightweight.
That's my own personal taste, and that's why I didn't pay more attention to the ones I saw and can't tell you anything real about them. --DD |
Here is a source for the same kit for A LOT less...

Thats the same kit without the few tidbits of 914 specific items one would need.
You can see a small bag labeled 914 in the pic. Its the normal conundrum, figure it out yourself or spend the money. -Rich |
Thanks guys, you are great resource.

Seems like the only time I roll up the windows is to wash it!

Was up in your neck of the woods not too long ago, assisting the technicians in the USPS Remote Encoding Center and prepping for the facility's closure. A LOT of long faces; not a pretty site. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate...WavingFlag.gif http://www.pelicanparts.com/pmpre/images/Rouser/GWB.jpg |
Those kits drive the window off the splined tit where the crank originally attached, meaning you will still have that part protruding thru the door panel, and it will be covered by a cheesy looking plastic cap provided in the kit. Some people remedy this by building small switch pods to cover the holes. Also, you may need to restore your regulators if they don't operate smoothly or else you'll be making things worse with the electric kit.
GOOD LUCK AND POST PICS! |
Heres an install pic from one of the people here.
