Oil cooler bypass Q's....odd setup

OK so I have a dry sump pump and an external cooler and I need to bypass the stock oil cooler.

So I gots me one o deez...(see top item)
http://www.greatplainsas.com/scoilcooler.html

It says it a "block off" but they mean "bypass".

So it comes with the 'O' rings and not the gasket..OK thats fine.
But its not as what is pictured on the site.

What they sent me lines up fine but the holes are threaded and they include nuts and bolts that are too large to install in the case.

Huhh?

My plan is just to drill out the threads and mount the thing.
Anyone know the proper thread size for the oil cooler mounts?

Am I going about this the hard way?

Thanks,
Rich Hilgersom

Rich,

I would take the old/new mounting bolts to a hardware store with a big bolt bin and match an old thread sized bolt to the new bolt length.

No need to risk botching a case doing threading work when you can buy a couple of cheap bolts.

Are you going to plumb gauges into the 1/4 NPT outlets or plug them?

You can buy the same thing from Scat for cheaper...

The stock oil cooler studs are 6mmx1

I guess I should have made it clear Im going to drill the threads on the new part and not the case ;-)

Yes, I plan to put the senders there.

OK Jake...a bit hesitant to go back to SCAT at this point!
I could not find a picture of the animal from SCAT anywhere.

Thanks for the sizes!

Rich,
That was a joke....

BUT They do make them!

actually, For higher flow I have another option for you, it is pictured in one of the pics on that page and has two fittings coming from it. we use them after a connecting passage is drilled into them and cap them with Galley plugs. This gives more volume than the actual by pass does that you can buy..

Thanks Jake ;)

I thought I was going to have to do that but the one they sent me is different than what is pictured.

It looks like it was redesigned with a larger diameter passage but I could not figure out why the part is threaded.

That says it goes on top. Isnt it for a TI-III? Looks like it to me.

Rich Hilgersom 04-02-2004 03:33 PM

Per Jake, and he would know...

"The TI and TIV share the same cooler mount boss"

So I bought it...yup its the same.
