I want this 914. Can anyone tell me about it?

ok, so i want this to be my next car. can anyone tell me anything about this?

i REALLY like how the turn signals are gone. that was my biggest gripe with the styling of the 914.. they stuck out like sore thumbs. if anyone could let me know what rebody or whatever that is.. i would be forever greatful. also, if you have any information to similar rebodies, im interested. i was looking at the aero 994 kit, but it doesn't seem to be the kit above, and i dobut i can get just the front of it...

along with this, any information on a v8 swap would be helpful, because that seems like it would be ungodly fun. it was done in the $2003 grassroots challenge, so it can't be too terribly expensive to pull off. i have been told i need to stiffen the chassis, but the problem that arises with that is that i don't know how to weld. i have also heard that the v8 tears through the 901 trans like nothing...

if anyone can help me out on piecing together a daily driver... that would be awesome

tia, and i hope to become a part of this community soon!

You are already a part of the community, welcome! Use the search function at the bottom of the list and search v8 or similar. You will find more info than you would have ever imagined.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, nobody sells the front fenders that are on that car, they are formed by hand from the factory fenders. The fenders on Rennspeed are Chalon front fender copies and require much more work and other parts to look right on the 914. If you want a slant nose 914, cut the top off your exisiting fenders and weld in steel and form it by hand. You would have what you see in that picture. If you want a Chalon, buy those fenders from Rennspeed and start looking for a 911 fiberglass front bumper to modify to fit and the nose extension that goes in the front between the fenders. If you want to see what it looks like done. Here is a picture. Not quite done but getting there. Good luck.

My last 914 had this style, I did the fenders myself, lots of cutting and welding, mine was all metal with just a skim coat of body filler for smoothing. Attached are a couple of pics of the car. It is a great look, but is a lot of work.

1bad914,
How do you have your turnsignals wired, up...I always wondered that? Do you have them hidden behind the horn grills? Very smooth look, not my style, but I dig the quality of the work and the daring to be different.

I like the hood on the first silver car.

JmuRiz ,I was a bad boy, I had no turn signals! My plan was to manufacture my own and use the fog light area for that, sad to say a divorce forced me to sell this car before I got that far. The good news is I'm going to look at another candidate tonight, it will either be a widebody rocket or a very stock looking sleeper v-8.

This mod is a lot of work to do right, the welding is the easy part, smoothing the metal and making it all straight with a hammer and dolly is the tough part. I won't do it again! I'd rather spend my doing something else, like flairing the fenders by hand!

Randy
