Hi, I'm new here so I've got some pretty basic questions.
I'm looking for information concerning the 914 gas tank in/out ports. Has anyone replaced the gaskets in these 2 fittings? If so what did you use for a gasket? I've been told the originals are no longer available. The threads on the inside of the aluminium locking nut are pretty stripped too! |

I had those fittings off my tank just a few weeks ago when I was prepping the tank to go back in my car. Mine were covered with varnish so thought maybe they had been leaking. I think there were some kind of washers, but I cleaned and inspected the pieces, applied thread sealant then drew the fittings up good and tight. If your threads are so stripped you can't get it tight maybe you better look for a replacement nut. If there's enough threads to get a grip, get some Permatex thread sealant and put some around the tubing fittings and on the threads then let it cure. Then you might do a leak check before you put the tank back in the car.
