While I'm still trying to figure out why my 914 won't start (73 2.0 won't start), I took Darren's advice and check if there's anything have cogged the gas line. I'm stunned to find these filmsy stuff in my tank.
![]() ![]() ![]() To me it looks like some kind of coating inside the tank. But, I don't see anything like this in my part-car's tank. Well, replacing the gas tank is on top my To-Do list. ![]()

Yikes! Looks like some stufed shelf paper into the tank. What is that stuff?
Do you really need to replace the tank? Is it rusted?

There's still a lot of it on the inside wall. I used a wire coat hanger to peel it off and fish it out. Probably in one point of the car's life, someone applied this to prevent rust. Apparently, it didn't work very well. Replacing the tank is the easiest way to me before I find a way to clean this mess up thoroughly.

a radiator shop can boil that out and clean it up, but most don't seem to use good liners... have them boil it, then either use por-15 gas tank treatment or do without a liner... or replace the tank..
