Rusted strike plate

The plate with the welded nuts inside the fender well has rusted in place and won't move. It's supposed to be able to move around to be able to adjust the striker plate, right ?

Does anyone have an attack plan for this ?

This car was 100% restored in 90-91 so it doesn't need any other rust work.

Loosen the screws, spray with penetrating oil, and tap on it with a hammer to try to break it loose. Either rust or undercoating is holding it tight. If you have to you'll have to free it up from inside the wheelwell.

The oil idea is good,

If you mean the screws are not coming out, then use an impact screwdriver. It may nick up the screws but those are easy to replace.

If the part was placed back on the car too soon after paint...uhh thats bad. I would trace around the part with a blade and then whack it with a hammer. It still may take some paint with it.

Well I put a couple 8mm bolts in the threads. Then peaned them with a hammer. It broke loose. I'm back in business. Opens like a new car.
