Vapor Lock

Hello all...
Okay, I've searched and searched for this relocating your fuel pump artical and can't find it. I keep having problems starting my 914 after a quick trip to the store and want to try relocating the pump. Can anyone please point me in the correct direction, thanks.

Do you need locations? Some people put the pump up in the front trunk under the board. I put mine behind the pan that protects the master cylinder. it was very easy to mount the pump behind this pan right by the gas tank access hole. Make sure to pad the mounts so you dont have to listen to the pump while driving.

Well, what I was looking for is if I need to buy all new fuel lines, or since the ones I have are in working order is it just a matter of unplugging and moving the pump? Thanks

Ive probably reached my limit for being useful. The two cars I worked on with relocated fuel pumps also had carbs, so there was only a single fuel line. I recall playing with a stock pump and that it had three. Now all the lines have to run from the tank to the engine (writing out loud) so i dont think you'd need to replace them-maybe just extend them. The good part about mounting the pump under the front end is that there is a 6"diameter access hole to the bottom of the gas tank. When i mounted my pump, I just used sheet metal screws to hold it on, and was able to do all the plumbing through the hole so i didnt have to raise the tank. Its also protected with the plate and wont stink up your trunk if it fails. So I guess I dont think you'd need to reroute lines-just splice into them wherever you mount the pump. Good luck!
