Ok my reply:
I have already contacted:
Mark Stephens: they wont return call, only got an email saying how busy they are.

Bernie Bergman: I had a nice phone call with him today, he said that type 4's produce no hp, and have all sorts of problems. He also said that he only sells 1 Type 4 every 2 years. And is considering to stop selling Type 4 stuff. He also said he doesn't sell Type 4 heads.

I also have talked to and got quotes for heads from Fat, NW Connecting Rod, and Performance Tech.

The best prices I got was from European Motorworks, which said $700, has anyone had any experience with them?

I think the Europeans have been building high hp Type IV motors for years. ( Check out http://www.tunacan.net/t4/index.shtml ).

This place http://www.ismi.net/riecherttuning has high performance heads for the Type IV.

The reason these shops don't like type IV heads is they don't flow well. Pauter makes a type IV sized head but it looks like a type one with the exhaust ports out the side and you can go up to 57mm intake valves ,etc. They are not legal in some racing venues. To use the Pauter heads you would need to get a set of headers that will work with the new exhaust configuration. I recently had estimates done on a set of type IV heads with big valves (55mm intakes), flowed (not Ported & polished), dual springs and the price was in the $3000 range in the San Diego area! Oh yea, Pauter's web site is: http://www.pauter.com/
Good luck
