need help with 73' 914 1.7
hi
Me and my father took on a 73' 914 2 years a go when we picked it up the car had been sitting for about 14 years. at that we decided to rebuld the motor. on the first engine removal we replaced the seals the oil pump and all the ignition system. i went and replaced the fuel pump and the injectors along with the lines. i went ahead and tried firing the car but was getting misfiring in the intake which turned out to be a valve job. my father has pressured me to get it started before he paints it. which he has alredy done. when i finally got the car back i had tried starting it again. for some stange reason the condensor and points burned up. i repaced them and it burned up again. not only that but my FI system is not working. it was fine before we painted the car. what could be the problem? |

Many, many things. Too much for a simple answer. One thing 914 owners do first is check all brown wires (grounding wires) for continuity. Then, it sounds like a couple of wires are crossed. Get a Haynes manual and check out the wiring schematics. There is a good section on tune ups as well. Should get you in the ballpark.
When you get to more specific issues and can't seem to find the cause, come on back and let us know. Welcome to the board. |
