Porsche Crest Did anyone hear this?

On click and clack today(PBS Radio), a lady called in complaining of a fine, oily substance building up on the inside of the windows on her 76' 912e. They told her the car was prolly LEAKING ANTIFREEZE FROM THE HEATER CORE!!!!

They finished the show without correcting their mistake! We should barrage them with questions about aircooled engines next saturday and expose their ignorance!!!!!!!!!

LOL :P

O.K. I'm a bit ignorant, but what is with the oily film on the inside of our windows? AND I KNOW IT IS NOT FROM A COOLANT LEAK!

The oily film is from oil building up inside the heat exchangers and then seeping out onto the glass through the heater vents.

She was from Atlanta...hopefully she stays away from AA!!!!!
They would keep it for a week and then tell her the work was done, $1000 please! They would say:" I know, it is alot, but those porsche heater core plugs are expensive!"

No, the oily substance on the inside of the windshield is from oily vapor
emitted from a new or relatively new dash top or a dash top that has been treated with a conditioner or preservative.

Heard it. HEATER CORE? 912E. Well there's something else I won't be listening to. I don't recall them giving any advice for a 914.
