Fuel Tank Screen

Still trying to figure out why my car bucks hard at 3200 rpm area. "75 with original fuel inj. Car sat for years under a carport. I noticed in an old fuel tank that I have, that there is a screen on the larger outlet pipe. Anyone ever find one of these to be clogged, and if so, what symptoms did you have ? thanks, Pete

Yes, I had one about 60-70% clogged.

It took me a while to figure out what was going on with my engine. It had a new top end rebuild and ran beautifully in the shop (D-Jet) but, when I took it out on the road, it would loose power and nearly die until I backed off the thottle and let it rest at a lower crusing speed and rpm. When I dropped a gear and throttled it, it would again choke and nearly die.

I punched out the glazed over screen and installed a larger fuel filter, the engine ran like a champ thereafter.

Phil
