How to ruin your day...
When filling a transmission with a flexible hose make sure there's nothing on the end of the hose (like a small plastic end piece) that could possibly become disconnected from the hose when you withdraw it from the transmission filler hole...don't ask me how I know this can ruin your day.

hey,
i wouldn't worry about the small plastic piece. i'm sure your gears will chew it up just fine. that really is a good piece of advice that you gave. I'll remember that the next time i lube my transaxle. i'm hoping that will be soon.. as soon as i get a new one here to put in i'll be checking fluids. *still waiting for a transaxle* -jim- |

Thanks for your confession. Your anecdote just reinforces what I have found to be true in my own experience: for my smugness at passing myself off as a mediocre, self-help, 914 mechanic, I sometimes must pay dearly for my arrogance in offending the 914 gods! "Patience, Grasshopper, patience..." 8<)
