It runs... (almost)
 

I have a '74 1.7 FI that I finay got to start
Now I need to put all the vacume lines back in, but I don't see anything that looks like a charcoal canister, do I need it? What does it do?
The setup that I have looks more like the 1.8 configuration

How do I set _both_ the idle bypass on the air vane and the idel adjustment on the trottle body? Have not found any procedure on doing this.

Is there anyway to check if the oil pump lost it's prime before catosropic failure?

There was no 1.7L in 74. It was dropped and the 1.8 was available. Set the idle speed on the throttle body to the correct RPM setting, then using a CO meter set the bypass screw on the Air Flow meter so that the CO is 2.4 to 3.0%. As for the charcoal canister, it may have been removed. THere is a small plastic line (5mm, I think( that will come up through the sheet metal at the same place as the fuel lines. The canister mounts against the rear trunk pan on the right. You should see a mounting point for it there. Use some 5MM vacuum line to hook it to the plastic line, and some 12mm vacuum line to hook that same side of the canister to the fan. then hook the other side to the fittng on the air cleaner next to the air flow meter.

The charcoal cannister might also be up in front on top of the fuel tank. If so, then there will be two plastic lines running along the driver's side rocker panel from the fuel tank compartment to the engine bay.

Some 74s have the front-mounted cannister, some have the rear-mounted one.

Someone somewhere changed out the 1.8 for a 1.7, but that's what I'm stuck with.
Some pictures would be nice to help me figure out what in the world I am looking at.
Right now the car does not run very long on it's own and need help to keep running, where do I start with the idle and bypass screws?
