76 fuel filter replacement
Has anyone ever replaced a fuel filter on a 914 with the front pump? Do you need to burp the line leading from the filter to the pump of air?

I just replaced all my gas lines and the fuel filter at the same time. I have a 76 2.0.
All I did was plug in the new filter and go. I wasn't thinking there could be air problems. It worked fine. Neal |

As long as the pump is under the level of the gas in the tank it will self prime.
To change the filter run the car low on gas, then pinch off the feed line to the filter, swap in a new filter, and you're done. Any which way I've done I allways spill some gas, the less gas in the tank the less pressure to spill gas out. Take the time to check out the condition of the hoses under the tank. Replace if they look old, if not be sure to re-route them the way they were so they don't kink and cause a fuel stoppage. |
