There are a number of aftermarket steering wheels available for the 914. They range in various diameters (sizes), number of spokes (3 or 4) and types of wheel cover (leather, suede, imitation). Most steering wheel manufacturers sell adapters and will give you a horn button that matches your brand of car. They range from very cheap to awesome and the prices go accordingly. I recommend you look at many different wheels before deciding to order.

You might want to start with PP and see if they strike your fancy. They have a great selection. I have a Momo Corse and am very happy with it.

You can also do a search on eBay for MOMO. Confine your search to eBay Motors.

That wheel looks like either a Momo Prototipo (no longer made), or a Mountney, which is British made and easy to source from British car places. No idea where you can get the proper hub for a 914.

I have the Momo Monte Carlo. The hub is easly available for 72-76 914's and 914-6's. The Porsche horn button is about 30-50 dollars.

I run this MOMO Mod 7. It is the same wheels the factory uses on the 996 cup cars and GT3 RS.

The wheel has alot of dish so make sure it will fit your driving style.

This is a Grant wheel from PepBoys. I spray painted the horn button flat black then cut the Porsche emblem from a Porsche key fob and glued it to the horn button. The key fob cost about $15 and the wheel was $50 or $60 IIRC. Pelican sells the key fob here... http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/MISC/POR_MISC_BOT02D_pg3.htm

The PO already had a Grant wheel adapter on the car. As you can see, this wheel is small and blocks the speedometer, but I like the way it feels. Grant has a bunch of styles and sizes to choose from.

Machining internal splines would be very tough and way too much trouble. Easier to find an adapter that could re-drilled fo the wheel you want. Best just to find someone who makes both.

That wheel in your original post looks like the Racemark Raid. I've got the same wheel and hub from my 70 911S. If you have a 911 column it will work with the Wheel/Hub I have. I might be tempted to part with it. It's 70's vintage.

I took an old stock 914 steer wheel apart and used the hub to make an adapter for my Grant. If you do this, no shortcuts please. Goodluck
