How do you adjust speed ometer

My speed o is off about 5mph. Is there away to adjust it without to much work?
Thanks

Mark,
I've had these apart. There's nothing inside to adjust. To correct for non-stock wheels/tires would mean having a speedo shop recalibrate it.

If the speedo is off by a constant amount, you can tweak the needle. If it is off by some %, i.e. rising change with speed, you need to change you tires or send the speedo out to a Shop. Palo Alto has a program when you count wheel revolution for a certain distance and then they adjust the speedo to match.

If you take the glass off the front of the speedo & lift the needle over the stop it will land on a scale printed on the edge of the face. If you want to slow the speedo down you have to remove the needle and reinstall it so that it lands lower on that scale. Don't put the glass back on until you get it calibrated where you want it. Make sure you get the needle pushed all thae way back on or it will rub on the glass & make the speedo bounce.
