Oil temp gauge doin' the jitterbug....
 
The needle on my stock center-console oil temp gauge (1974 2.0) bounces around rapidly, from the "full cold" position to maybe a third of the way up the scale. When the engine gets hot (say, after an autocross run)the needle stays steady. When it cools off, the bouncing returns. Does this sound like a bad sender?

Yep, sounds like a bad sender to me.
