Do your headlights blink or wave?

Out for a Sunday drive yesterday, I saw another yellow 914 in Palo Alto, CA. It was a 74 just like mine. I passed him and gave him the nod and smile of courtesy...he had a great looking car. Looking in my rear view mirror with him right behind, he apparently momentarily pulled/pushed his headlights on/off...they didn't go up more than half way...

What surprised me though was that his left headlamp went up first followed closely by his right one...and then they both went to the closed position. They waved! My headlights both go up and down together in unison...They blink! Why the difference?

Do certain year cars have different headlamp operation? Do yours wave or blink...please also list your car year.

Mine kinda flutter right now. The outside mounting bracket is busted. They move in blinking motion though. Its a 73 2.0l.

Sorta related. There is a kit you can buy to make your car wink. One headlight only goes down and then back up. Dont remember from where of course. But to answer your orginal ques. my lights go down in unison.

My motors are just old, so if I havent used them in awhile, my right one raises more quickly than the left. Otherwise, if Ive just used them, they raise at the same time.

Jeff,
On my '76 the left headlight raises a bit faster than the right -- don't know why. They both go down together.

It sounds to me that the headlights are supposed to go up and down in unison. Any headlights that do the 'wave' must need lubrication or even replacement soon.

Thanks for the insight.
