Mid-engine supercar?

If I can install the VR6 motor in my 914 and then add this turbo for 245hp, my car will have a higher hp/weight ratio than the current Acura NSX. I would have a mid-engine supercar for very little money.

--------

Acura NSX - Curb Weight: 3153 lbs, Horsepower: 290 hp, ---> 10.9 lbs/hp

Turbo VR6 914 - Weight: ~2400 lbs, Horsepower: 245, ---> 9.8 lbs/hp.

what engine would you choose if you could only install PORSCHE engines in a PORSCHE?

well, he'd probably have to start with a real Porsche. Just kidding, let's not get all unwound on the NARP thing before the weekend.

My boss has an NSX with a supercharger on it, still waiting for my ride but should have it before winter. I'm told it's lightning quick.

80, sunny, and now I have to choose between taking the 914 out or mowing the grass.

Hey, the base model Cayenne has a VR6 in it. If it's good enough for Porsche, it's good enough for me! Besides, the 914 is a VoPo.

Or you could build a CHEAP 914 supercar ... with a V8 :
2340 # / 300 HP = 7.8 pounds per horsepower
The Z06 Corvette is only rated at 7.9 !!!

I never really liked the sound of American V-8s ... well, except maybe for the car Harrison Ford drove in American Grafitti. It might be that they don't rev high enough, I dunno. The VR6 keeps it in the family and I think they sound cool.

If you build it, it will rev. My buddy back home in NC has a 77 Silverado 4x4 with a 350 in it. It turns 10,500-11,000 RPM's no problem. It's the fastest vehicle I've ever sat in with four wheels, no question. He has destroyed everything fast within a hundred miles. When he goes to the dragstrip to race old Camaro's and the like in the 1/4, he decimates all.

BTW - he's a drag race builder, but this engines block crank assembly came out of his dad's old pick-up.

Also, you have not heard a song as beautiful as a drag-ported 350 turning 11,000 through a full stainless header system.

BS Flag What is the guys name? I would like to check his Timing slips. If he is from NC then he will race on one of the tracks listed here:

http://www.racecar2000.com/directory/resource-subdirectory-4.html
A under 10 second 4x4 pick up truck I would have heard about that.

His name is Terry SParks. And don't think I can't put a BS flag on pretty much half of your words my friend, I just choose to take the high road.

What do you mean you would have heard about it? What are you, the swami of all things automotive?!?!

I'm surprised you know what's going on anywhere at all, what with all the time you spend researching prices to gouge people on parts.

Jason I am well versed in the small block Chevy world.
I was building them before you were born.
If someone was doing under 10 in a 4x4 pickup which due to aerodymanics is highly unlikely. Yes I would ahave heard of him.
I will check the timing result from the trackes in NC to see what his times are.

Prices do you mean like that set of 96mm Kbs I sold for $450

Or the fresh 1971cc long block for $1500.

At your age, most of the things you've done occurred before I was born.

I've got expert witness testimony ready to go for 10,000+ RPM Chevy small blocks...I don't feel like I need to qualify anything to you.

Considering the fact that I can sell anybody that wants a KB P&C set right now for $350, and make a decent profit, I'd say you're gouging. I'm not the first person to point out that you're prices may be for lack of a better word, ludicrous...

Please Steve, unless you can give specific reasons why a SBC can't turn 10,000 RPM's, then ease up. I've seen it with my own 2 eyes, and it scared the living hell outta me. And I'm not afraid to admit it.

BTW - Nascar engines are governored, and they can turn 9-10,000 no problem. The real question is, how much do you wanna spend...

Jason where in my post does it say a SCB can not turn 10K rpm?

I am pointing out that the amout of horse power that it would take to push a Full size pick up truck( and you are saying a 4x4) to beat a Camero just is not going to happen. with a SBC Now Hemi with a 671 blower that would be different.

Now lets talk KB pistons Where can I get them for $350 with the german cylinders I have my credit card ready I will buy the right now. please help everyone out becuse I am sure there are others who would like to buy some also.

I went to the NC Drag Racing Forum as Posted the question If Terry Sparks 4x4 beats the cameros. we will let the local Drag racers answer that.

I did a search but didnt see him listed in any results but I know you have been out here a couple of years.

Last time I saw you two go at it, I believe it was over the Mexican Drug smuggling ring in Mexico Knock yourselves out. Personally I've seem some pretty fast full size 4x4's. I've also seen some pretty not-so-fast cameros. Well, I guess we'll see.

Steve, as you know, the most commonly available KB kits include non-German units, to which I'm refering. You didn't specify German, so I assumed you were referring to the most commonly available of the two choices.

As for 10 seconds, who ever said 10 seconds, I believe that would be you (probably got that number from the same place as your drug-smuggling conspiracy theories), cause I certainly didn't say it. He runs in the low 11's from what I remember, and I haven't talked to him in over 3 years since I left NC...

I guess the DEA and I just have conspiracy theories on drug smuggling.

Maybe you should read a little before you post a response. So my price was not too high then? actually about $75 less than the other guys that sell the KB pistons with German cylinders.

I see you didnt say the 1971cc fresh engine with ported heads for $1500 was over priced.

That would make this a False statement then. Correct?
