Angry 914 Fiat?

I was just complimented on my cute little Fiat at the drive in window at Starbucks. Kind of humiliating. I just said thanks and withheld a tip. Eddy

LOL! Yeah I get the Fiat thing a lot myself. They must have sold a lot more X 1/9's in my area than 914's.

I think those are the cool girls; talking about cars is always a plus. I laugh a little, and say "No, it's a 1976 Porsh-a 914." They usually reply "Wow, it's a Porsh-a?" or "Oh yeah, I forgot about those." It's all good.

Have you checked out the Tully's girls?

Lost count of how many times I'd get comments about 'is that the new Mustang?" from people looking at the horse on the back of my 308...

I got the Fiat thing last year at a small car show - I parked it next to some Cam-ero deal, and 2 kids were walking around it and almost bumped into my car. "What is it" said one, "It's a FIAT" exclaimed the other, knowingly. (Trying to impress his buddy with teh peanut butter stained t-shirt). Their attention was brief, as there was a Honda in the next row sporting Nintendo and coloring books.

I got a "nice Corvair" referring to my BMW3.0CSi (more than once). Sold that and got a 914. Guess I'll begin hearing it again.

I wouldn't have left that person ignorant. Tell everyone it's a Porsche!

as a former owner of A 1985 Fiat X-19, i hate to admit that it was easier to maintain and even a had a cooling fan that worked!

But currently, my 75 Porsche 914 2.0, is still "cooler" and is still a PORSCHE!!

The ghia roadster I used to drive...someone asked "is that a palomino?" I guess it sounded like a flatulent horse?

I spent more time under my X 1/9 than in it. I had the first year 5 speed, 78 I think. Had to get a new trans. twice. Had to loosen the motor mounts and move the engine to get the alternator out. Broke a CV once spinning the tire in the grass and when it hit pavement, POP...
Oh, and one afternoon I hit the brakes for a left turn and my passenger says, "Hey, look at that wheel rolling by!", yep it was mine...

My first 914 had a Monza exhausy with a horse on the tips. My neighbourgh was sure it was a Ferrari but I have to admit that it was red .

The teller at my drive-up bank asked me if my '74 was the new Boxster. He was totally confused when I told him that it was a 30 year old 914.
I do like the Fiat 124 and X1-9s though...from a biz standpoint, we sell International Auto Parts (VA.) lots of parts for those little cars !

Yea, my neigbor called my house one afternoon screaming into my answering machine about a "Fiat" that had "taken off and was flying" down our street. Obviously, she did'nt know what she was talking about...

However, I have had several compliments this past summer at red lights from people admiring the P-O-R-S-C-H-E!!!

I get lots of looks too when I drive the 914. Mostly from middle age men and teenage girls. Neither of which does me any good!

Oh come on ed, looks from teen-age girls are good, just don't get close enough to ruin the fantasy.
