Roof Rack Advice
I want to be able to throw a couple of boards on the roof and head up to the mountains! I have an old top that I can use if I decide to permamently mount a roof rack to. Does anyone have experience with roof racks on 914s? Is the roof strong enough for snow boards and attached well enough to not get ripped off from lift? Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated.
Ive taken it from Boulder, CO to Breckenridge several times, but always need another driver to haul stuff. Nothing like a 914 at a ski resort! |

I have an extra roof that I have installed a rack system onto. I used the Yakima Rail riders for a Ford Explorer. They bolt thru the roof with big fender washers. I was planing on using it for kayaking, but have not @ this time. I would recommend a bow and stern line. Stern line is easy, just use the jack bolt thru the bumber. The bow line is requires removing the spoiler - valance and connecting the line to the torrsion bar assembly by the bumber.
my 1.5 cents worth... IMHO... ------------------ Smoke Daddy |
