Vivid Colors Predicted for Future Cars The Daily Auto Insider Wednesday, November 3, 2004 November 2004 Cars and trucks might be painted in shades such as light turquoise in a few years, The Detroit News reported, citing color forecasters at Troy-based PPG Automotive Coatings, a unit of PPG Industries Inc. in Pittsburgh. Currently, and for the fourth consecutive year, silver and silver-gray remained the top color choices for cars in North America and everywhere else in the world except Australia, where white still leads, according to PPG's annual survey of color popularity. The study found that 27 percent of 2004 model year North American cars came in some form of silver/gray paint, with white and red tied for the next popular at 14 percent of vehicles. Black, blue and "natural" colors, such as gold, followed close behind, adorning 13 percent, 12 percent and 11 percent of cars and trucks in North America. But in the future, we might be looking at silvery finishes with a faint tint of color and trends which will reflect more of a "palette" of colors, such as "really bright" reds and more vibrant hues, the story said. |

I saw a show on Discovery HD or HDNet a few weeks ago covering a Japanese car show. Real bright colors and strange shades/metallics are big over there. The smaller the car the brighter the color. Actually a good thing I guess, part of the reason I went yellow - easier seen.
