With that color exterior, I'd say a neon green. Maybe even Ravenna Green!! (Ob914 content.)

Does the engine go in the back, or in the middle the way it should be?

the kelmark was originally engineered for a mid engine lay-out, as it should be. Later on, public demand fueled a rework effort to accomodate teh more economical VW platform. I have a T-1 IRS pan. I would love to own a 1500 lbs mid engine v8 monster. My Rayco bodied V8 914 weighs in at a whopping 2500 lbs. this 1500 lbs kit kar should scoot along nicely with teh T-4 2.4L in my other post. it also has some meats on it. the rears are 265-60 15

It looks like you have your work cut out for you. Should be a fun project. Good luck.

the 70s jokes are funny but...is it ugly or is it a good looking car?

I think the Kelmark is a good looking car. Its classic syling based off the Dino 246, and the Porsche 904 is always going to be a winner.

But that said, I do have a couple of "issues" with the Kelmark GT styling, first is the thickness of the A pillar. Its rather large and a vision block when I saw a Kelmark in person and sat in it. Also its got a distint Chopped feel that was offputting to me.

Second not really a styling, but I think a midengined configuration is really neat. If you can do that, and work out a interior that doesn't suck, it will be a awesome car.

The red car in your engine building post looks really nice. Are they the same exact body style? Pete

Hey Sean I like it!
(Looking around, whispering) I secretly want to do the same thing..........
I'd like to think my next project would be something similar, with a V8 hacked into it somehow.
Hey, wasn't there a rebody kit for the 914 as well, that looks like your Kelmark/Dino? I like this style, as well as the Fiberfab Valkryie.

Way cool, looks like a fun project for someone for a change!

Kelmarks first car was mid eng tube framed but this was expensive and cost limited their market. My car is on a VW pan.
yes, the red and black cars are of the same mold
I dont like the fat A and B pillars.
I like teh fiberfab Valkirie GT 40 replica although the lights are funky

That is actually one of the better looking kit
car designs I've seen. Not too wacky and not
just several 'design regions' force-fit together.

wow, it has been a while. that car got a type 1 1915 with 42 x 35.5 heads running dual 34mm carbs, sun yellow paint, charcoal grey interior and 911 guages. sold on ebay to seattle guy for 7500. it had a short geard trans which made for a quick off teh line car. it sold in one day with buy it now. I did not like teh handling. it would need a cage to corner well...read flexy

kelmark

My red kelmark has a stock 1500 VW motor, but has a 2180 with webers 48 idf ready to go one day. mine handles ok, not like the 914 however. mine has a dropped floor pan, heavey gage steel plate floor, dropped four inches, and heavey fully boxed perimeter frame along floor made of 4inch x approx 2 inch tubing.

one thing I do not like is the gas tank, it needs a safe fuel cell mounted mid ship, dont like that tin can of a tank hangin out in front.

enjoyable car, and it sure gets the looks. nice driver

I am sure a tube frame mid motor kelmark as some were made really can handle, add an aluminum V8 and it gets too crazy.

what kind of V8 do youhave in your 914, i have a V6 in one, but it is a real beater.
