MSD on 2.0 914?

hi
we have a 912e (okay 914 2.0 in 911 drag- kidding!) with the oem injection. upon installing the msd 6a and blaster coil, the injection and tach leads go to the coil- the car fires but will not run. msd says that a tach adaptor is needed. Is this correct? what experiences have you had doing this type of install?
thanks

reading other threads here- some ahve had the tach reworked for the msd signal- not hard- ho ho speedo is our neighbor. what about the f.i. signal? will it work off the pertronix output? or will it work off the tach adaptor if we go that route?

Dave, Just throw an Auto Meter tach in the car. Then no Tach adapter is needed. It can run right of the MSD box.

Why would the tach adapter effect how the car runs. That should only effect the operation of the tach. Unless the tach hooked up to the coil- is giving the FI a mixed signal or something.

If you disconnect the tach wire from the coil- does the car run OK?

ok- here was the fix- msd diagram was not correct. there is a tach output connector on the 6a. from there it connect to the tach adaptor 8910. then to the stock tach/ F.I. connection. thereby keeping the originality of the client's 912E
