Fitting a 3.0 SC
 
How does one fit a 82 3.0 SC engine with CIS injection into the engine compartment of a 914??? I am using a bulkhead mount. The CIS also has a SS air box

Do I need to relocate the engine lid latch??

Does trunk need to be cut??

I am doing the same conversion except with
Webers and have no clearance problem.
I believe with the CIS part of the Trunk
needs to be cut. I am not sure about relocating the hold down latch. I think
Micheal Zios who is on this page and rennlist has a 3.0 with CIS, he can give
more detail....

Hola...the latch is gone, the trunk needs to be cut and the springs to the rear trunk are removed....anymore ????

PS-The engine lid is held in place with hood pins...

Mike,

What's the largest six that can be installed without cuting the trunk and modifing the engine lid, etc. I'm just assuming this isn't required for the smaller displacement six's.

It is not really the engine displacement
that is the problem. It is more the Fuel
Management system that is used. A 3.0
with Webers fits fine.... If you use the CIS
injection on the same size engine
then you have some clearance problems to deal with in the trunk area. Some people have gone as large as a 3.6 in the 914... big $$$$ but more fun...

The 2.4 CIS engines (the 73.5 911T) do not require any cutting of the trunk. And, for the 2.7 CIS motors, Wayne has some details in the Six conversion guide about how to set up the fuel distributor so that you don't have to cut the trunk.

However, on both of those you lose the engine lid latch and the rear trunk springs.

I have seen 3.2 Motronic and 993 3.6 VarioRam engines stuffed into 914 engine bays with no cutting of 914 sheetmetal (beyond the regular oil tank stuff). Note that, in both of those cars, the stock air filter was replaced with some plastic pipe, a cone-style air filter, and a water shield.

Of course, pretty much any 911 engine will fit if you stick the Webers on it.
