Anybody have one of the aftermarket center consoles that are always on E-bay? Aside from the gauges and lack of a leather boot, how do they differ from the factory console? Is the vinyl or stitching on the vinyl any different? Also, anybody have any experience with the one that has the subwoofer built in? I'm just curious if these are decent or whether it's better to save up for a factory console. Steve

Hey Steve!
I've seen the ones with the sub-woofer in it and they look great. Do a search on here and 914club for teh user name morphenspectra he's the one that makes them. My best, Mike |

Just as a matter of interest, I think I have the most unique aftermarket center console going. What do you think?

Is that one of the Amco ones? I like that where did you find it?

It is not an AMCO product. I bought it off eBay some time ago, the first few moments it was listed as Buy It Now. I was told by the seller that he thought it was manufactured in Germany. Who knows? In any case, I don't think anyone has a center console like this unusual piece.

I test fitted the console to one of my parts cars and as a plastic mounding, it had all the correct angles and offsets to exactly fit the 914, except that I had to remove the heater lever to seat it.
This console has obviously never been installed. The space aft of the gearshift cutout has the room to cut and install the slot fixture for the heater lever. Don't when and if I will ever install this console in one of my teeners. Phil ![]() |

the sub ones are great. I just got one and it looks really really nice and is well thought out for room for your feet and everything. Fits really tight too.

Does anybody know if there are cheaper VDO gauges that will fit into these consoles? I've seen brand new ones for sale in VW magazines which are much cheaper than ones for the 914? Steve

Steve as long as your using the correct sendes for the newer VDO gauges they should work fine.

we here at appearance & performace do offer vdo gauges that are
2 1/16 ,if you want e mail us on the priceing hjhl@worldnet.att.net we dont make money on any of the gauges.we simply offer them so you have a useable console when it arrives.and we will be honest with you,the only complaints we EVER had about the "sport console" we sell was the instalation.and after a few e mails about this we started explaining how to install it and started offering a install kit for this item.but as far as the workmanship nothing but great responses on this item.i hand make all of the consoles we sell.and is a great fit. james appearance & performance |

I have one of Ebay ones. I like it. The overall quality is better than I expected. Mine came from 914 Appearance and Performance.
