I seem to have a bit of a problem with the 914. When I run the heater to the floor, the heat comes out warm and strong from what seems like the half of the exit port that is closest to the front of the car. But, at the same time, I have cold air coming out the half of the exit port that's closer to the engine that blows only when the car is moving, and comes out stronger when I drive faster.

Cont'd: Seems to me that I somehow that some sort of vent flap isn't closing all the way. I also notice that my middle lever on the heater controls does not slide as far left as it could. Where is the easiest place to adjust this? Is this just normal for a 914?

alright man, the middle lever is for the fresh air box located in the front trunk. This box has BEHR written on it. Usually, gunk and crap fill the thing up and clog the flap that moves around to give you the various positions. Mine doesnt work either. I've been trying to figure out how fo fix it. Youu have to take the expansion tank off, and then GENTLY tap out out C-clips with a small screwdriver and a hammer. the the front comes off and you can get your hands in there to get the stuff out. So i believe.......any body else have anything? pm me if you need more info...i
m going to do it like next week.

those plastic holders for the clips are VERY fragile, so easy on the tapping. They should slide right out
