Stereo amps
Hi guys,
Now I know that stereo info has been discussed before and I went and read the prior posts, but I still have a question regarding stereo amps. Several have noted that they mounted their amp inside the storage area on the wall by the gas tank. In the past I have taken many road trips (currently on blocks ![]() Thanks, John |

i have both of my amps mounted on the wall in front of the gas tank.. i've never run into heating problems... running the lines gets a little annoying unless you're willing to just have the wires exposed.. if not.. it generally involves taking out the fuel tank..
i'm in the middle of stripping out my car.. and i think i'll move the amps to the rear trunk like steve malm's setup.. just to maximize the front trunk space.. Jeff |

maybe upside down under the dash? there's lots of room there in my car. I don't know about yours, though. it just depends on teh physical dimensions of your amp, and what you are willing to sacrifice to have the sound.

If you put the amps in the front trunk, aren't you worried about all the hot air from the radiator?

I Don't know if your amp would fit but I've got mine stuck upside down on the bottom of my spare tire board-cover-thing in the middle of the spare tire. Very out of the way, very invisible. No problems so far.

that'd only work if you've still got a spare and a board on top of it..

I'd say Ive tested the front fire wall location pretty well. I have a 600Watt amp mounted there, and have put lots of miles on the car in Florida summers with the top down, the stereo cranked, and a car cover pressed up against the amp. I had worried about overheating, but it never has. Good luck!

I assume that with these big amps that you have figured out a good place to put speakers, what have you found works best?

I got the big amp because i had to power a Kicker Solo Baric 8" woofer. I replicated a stock center console to house it, and it looks really good. I then bought Kicker 5x7" and added a piece of 1/4" plywood to my stock kick panels to allow for the larger area and depth. I covered the kick panels with speaker cloth I found at a fabric store and they look great. Its not stock, but its very close.
