914 Serial Numbers

Hello Anybody!!
I've located a list of serial numbers for my 914 and behold, my serial number does not exist. Can anyone help out? I would just like to verify that I have a 73' 2.0L. Ser# GA007093. Tables incidate that I'm one digit short (need one more zero between A & 7)

Serial Number

If it starts with 473 then it's a '73. Not too sure how to tell what size motor from the serial number though. Does it have a 3 stud intake? I believe that is one way to tell.

Post the VIN number.

2.0 engines will have a GA in the beginning.

GA007093 is the serial. But according to some charts I looked at, I'm one digit short (should be one more zero between A & 7. Thanks for the replies.

You mean the engine serial number, right?? The VIN is the car's serial number, and tells us what "model year" the car is.

I don't think I'd spend too much effort on freaking out about not having enough digits in your engine serial number. Perhaps there's one left off the right side, making it a much later motor than anticipated, or maybe there's one left off the beginning... As long as it's got the three-stud heads and the 2.0 heat exchangers, I figure that's good enough!

Thanks Dave. I'll check for the three-stud heads. I just want to be sure it's 2.0, I may have to get new heads...those'll be easy to find (haha). Thanks for all the tips everyone.
Horhay.

thats not funny....:( I need new 2.0 heads

Not to be the party pooper, but just because a motor has the 2.0 heads does not automatically mean its a 2L. I agree, the odds of someone having a 1.7/1.8 crank,P/C's, and a cam in a 2L case and heads on are not likely, but these cars have been around for 30+ years now... And i'm sure a simple thread search on "look at what this idiot did!" is more than enough probability that people do change parts around.

Everyone is guilty of pinching pennies whey they should have just held out and done the job right!

That is true, Don. However, I figure a GA case plus three-stud heads is as good an indicator of 1971cc displacement as you'll find without tearing the heads off the motor...
