What's this 2.2 worth??
I'm getting ready to upgrade to a 3.0SC engine and will be selling my 2.2 engine once the swap is done. I have no idea what a fair asking price should be for this engine.
Here's the description: 2.2 T engine with around 5k miles on the rebuild. It was built with E pistons/cylinders for higher compression. It has a new Bosch T distributer with a Crane Optical Trigger, a new SC alternator (w/built in regulator) and 11 blade fan. I assembled the engine from a short block I got from German Automotive in St. Louis, and parts scrounged mostly from here. I had German Auto build it for me. It was not blueprinted, but the crank was micropolished and everything was hot tanked. The engine currently is in my 914 and is set up with Webers. I will be keeping them for the 3.0 so the engine will be complete minus Intake, exhaust, tin. I will also be keeping the oil cooler and replacing it with the one from the SC. The engine runs strong strong but currently has a rear main seal leak which will be repaired before I sell it. Otherwise, no notable leaks. I don't have compression numbers yet, but they should be pretty good. Why am I getting rid of a basically new engine?? Well, when I started the project, I was in grad school and trying to do the six conversion for the least $$ possible. It was still expensive, but relatively cheap comparably. I'm not a grad student anymore, and I can afford a bit more, and I hate to say it, but I want MORE BEEF ![]() The 914 with the 3.0SC should do. I would do a 3.2, but my wife would kill me if I dropped $8k on an engine Anyway, please fire away oppinions of fair value. Thanks ![]() If anyone's interested, let me know. I anticipate having it ready to go by late Feb or mid March. ![]()

From my recent shopping around
![]() $600-$1200 as a long block. Carbs will set someone back close to $1000 for a set. This is a good engine to get started into a SIX conversion. Best of luck and a month ago I would have jumped on this ![]() Cheers Kerry

I'm currently in the market for a 2.0+, was planning on rebuilding my 1.7 to 2+.
If the engine looked good and you had reciepts I'd give you $800.00 Todd tmh75@backpacker.com |

Go with a 3.2 with the FI! They got for $4500 to 6000 and will drop in. Sell the engine with the carbs and never look back.
A good 3.0 will set you back close to this so look alittle bit harder. Geoff

Geoff, i've seen good 3.0L long blocks go for $3000. Since he doesn't need (or want) the bloody CIS, it should be cheaper.
But i completely agree, a 3.2 with the FI is the hot ticket. Plug in and go, already has the Carrera tensioners, and never worry about tunning webers ( ![]()
