Info on Los Ponchos
So you don't have to scroll through the pictures. You can drive the car or trailer it. To get to the shop, follow the signs that say "Centro" (central) meaning down town. You'll go around a big interchange loop and be very careful as there are several really bad bumps in the concrete joints. Los Ponchos is at the first light and you can easily see the sign on the right. The owner and his son speak very good english. They deal in cash and like 20% to 25% deposit. I made a list of what I wanted to do and gave that to them and it helps a lot and make sure to ask them to check it off. Their body man and interior man may find additional things so get them on the list too. Give them plenty of time to do the work, for me it took a week and a half to strip the paint and do it over. I used the Mexican paint this time and it looks pretty good and is about 60% or the cost of the US paint? Take a diagram of the tail light connections as they never seem to get them reconnected right. I have finally put tape on each wire with the light connector # and included a diagram of each light. They said the border folks would charge me duty but they did not but I got an extra reciept with a low amount just in case.
You can do a search on Redbeard's posts as he also has things like their number and such. If any one is coming this way, feel free to give me a call or email and you are very welcome to stop by and see their work on my car. |
